My Story
My name is Michael John Krynak. I live in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Jacksonville is the home of Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. I was stationed here when I served on active duty with the U.S Marines. It is a good place to work and live and I wrote many songs while I was stationed here. I was on active duty for 21 years as a Marine Infantry and Logistics Officer. I also spent a tour of duty in Vietnam and wrote a song about one of my fallen comrades called "Never Knew Your Name". There are far too many chapters in my life to write about here but I must mention my time (after the Marines ) as a Kindergarten teacher. My students liked me a lot but sometimes I think being a Marine was easier than teaching. Let me explain: as a leadership commander, Marines were obedient, resourceful and quick to carry out orders. When I reported to my new assignment as a Kindergarten teacher, I was greatly humbled when I found it difficult to keep thirty little rascals in their seats!
They had minds of their own but one day, I pulled out the guitar and things changed! Nothing is more calming to children than singing. Especially to 30 precious souls with their heads resting softly on pillows! I went from Major Mike to Mr Mike! Every child had his or her own custom song. There was a lot of songwriting practice/learning going on in those days and because of music in the classroom, we had great times! Play-dough, the guitar, silly songs and the treasure chest always made things better. So for YOU my friends, please put your head on a soft pillow and give a listen! Hope you like my songs! Each composition is a chapter in my life and perhaps one or two was written for YOU!
Blessings,
Mr. Mike
